Square Footage Calculator

Estimate floor area for a rectangular, square, triangular or circular space, or add several room areas together. Choose feet, inches, metres or centimetres for dimensions; the result is shown in both square feet and square metres. A separate material allowance estimates an area to order for planning, but it does not account for room layout, offcuts, product pack sizes or installer recommendations. Measure each room carefully and keep all dimensions in the selected unit.

How it is calculated

Choose a shape or the multiple-room option and select the dimension unit.

Enter the dimensions or the area of each room; use one consistent unit.

Review square feet, square metres and the separate material allowance.

Formula

Rectangle: length × width

Triangle: base × height ÷ 2

Circle: π × (diameter ÷ 2)²

Material allowance: area × (1 + waste percentage ÷ 100)

Frequently asked questions

Does the material allowance change the measured area?

No. The measured area stays the same; the allowance is a separate planning estimate for additional material.

Can I add several rooms?

Yes. Choose multiple rooms and enter each area in the same square unit selected in the unit field.
