Add or subtract two durations without treating the minute digits as decimal fractions. Enter whole hours and minutes from 0 to 59 for each duration, then choose an operation. The result is normalized into hours and minutes and also shown as total minutes and decimal hours. Subtraction that would produce a negative duration is rejected instead of displaying an invalid time. This calculator handles duration arithmetic, not clock times, time zones or pay rates.
Enter the first duration as whole hours and minutes.
Enter the second duration and choose Add or Subtract.
Check the normalized hours and minutes, total minutes and decimal hours.
Duration in minutes: hours × 60 + minutes
Normalize: whole hours = total minutes ÷ 60; remaining minutes = remainder
Can I subtract a larger duration from a smaller one?
Not in this duration calculator. A negative duration is rejected; reverse the values or use a signed-time tool if that is the quantity you need.
Does 1 hour 30 minutes equal 1.30 hours?
No. It equals 1.5 decimal hours because 30 minutes is 30 divided by 60 of an hour.
